It
is the 27th Century and the known universe
has broken into three factions, the Celestial Commonwealth Alliance, (CCA),
the Empire of Galactic Order, (EGO), and the neutral worlds.
Periods of war and uneasy peace set the tone of the era. Prior to the formation
of the EGO, the CCA was the foremost power in explored space. Raids conducted
by aggressive species who dared to foray into CCA protected space were dealt
with in an efficient and expedient manner by the Celestial Fleet and Marines.
Even the nonaligned worlds knew they had but to call for aid and help was quickly
on the way.
Eventually,
the aggressors determined that as separate entities they were making no progress
in their goals of conquest. These worlds united and formed the EGO and in a
huge first strike they set the Universe on a new path. Now, there is a tenuous
balance of power, each side achieving success and suffering failure in turn.
