General Description: Mountainous terrain is the most common feature, with some lush green areas, and it is generally cool with steady winds for most of the year. Each continent has mountains. There are an abundance of fresh water bodies including lakes and rivers. Vegetation is abundant and there are a variety of animal species. There are few volcanoes and earthquakes are rare.

Fliugan Physical Description: Carbon-based, vertebrate, mammalian, winged biped. Fliugan are lanky, with low body fat, strong upper back and shoulder muscles, but because of the slightly lower gravity on Fliugjo, they also have a lighter muscle density giving them a misleadingly fragile appearance. Their wings fold up and lie close to the body.

Behaviour: The Fliugan are studious and slow to anger (but can be explosive if provoked to the extreme.) They can be a very passionate people and are highly inquisitive and intelligent. They are very innovative and inventive. Their intellectual capabilities make them highly adaptable and they adjust easily to new situations. Fliugan are great story tellers and enjoy trading bardic tales!

Special Attributes: They have the ability to fly. They have the ability to sense wind currents and weather patterns. They all have a psionic ability most easily described as a form of empathy, this innate ability is linked with a sensory gland located in the soft tissue of the superior nasal concha. This gland allows Fliugan to read the neural impulses of those around them. Between having this extra sensory gland, and their empathic ability, Fliugan can intuitively determine someone in close proximity is planning to do. There are species whose thought processes are so foreign to that of the Fliugan that they cannot interpret the sensory information with any amount of certainty.

Government: The leaders are usually the elders that have established their strength, leadership, wisdom, and skill. Decisions are made in the democratic tradition using a model very similar to that of a direct democracy, putting the power directly in the hands of the citizens. The judiciary system is made up of the elders.

Religions/Beliefs: Fliugan feel the presence of their spirits in nature around them. They see spirits in all living things and are very respectful of life. Fliugan are spiritual, believing in a gentle God that guides and protects their flight.

Society/Culture: Since the Fliugan are a winged race, they tend to live in high places. There are no social classes.The Fliugjo live in close knit family units. The arts are supported by government and private institutions alike. Those that lie, cheat or practice other forms of deceit are ostracized from society and sent to Vleermuis, a penal colony. Fliugan believe in keeping their private lives separate from their public lives and respect the privacy of others.
The Fliugan have an aura of mystery about them. Early on, the Fliugan learned to be wary of disclosing too much about themselves, until they could trust their empathic readings of alien neural impluses.
