General Description: The oceans of Akira are a distinctive green. There is a great deal of water on the planet. The terrain is made up of mountains, jungles, and deserts. Temperatures and conditions at night are much more bearable and most of the species, including the Akirins are nocturnal. Polar caps are nonexistent except for a few weeks out of the year.

Akirins
Physical Description: Carbon-based, vertebrate, mammalian biped.
Lifespan: 100.
Average Height: 202 cm/6.6 ft (male.) 186 cm/5.10 ft (female.)
Average Mass: 88 kg/194 lbs (male); 71 kg/156 lbs (female.)
Epidermis/Exoskeleton: Pale silver-gray to light bluish skin or pale purple tones depending on inherited regional genetics.
Outer Growth: Cranial hair ranges from a silvery gray to black. Eyebrows are well defined. Males have facial hair of gray or black but may or may not wear a beard depending on personal preference.
Appendages: 4 (two legs, two arms.) Digits: 5 fingers/toes on each hand/foot
(including opposable thumbs on hands).
Visual Sensors: 2 eyes (come in a variety of shades, usually light colors like gray, rose, blue, green, or lavender); pupils refract
and reflect light in the manner because they are nocturnal by nature. Their pupils are shaped like an X but round out as they open.
Aural Sensors: 2 ears, slightly away from the skull, are generally pointed at tip.
Behavior: The Akirins are very calm and self-possessed. They approach all problems with logic and perseverance. They feel emotions deeply, but seldom display how they feel in front of others.
Special
Attributes: Akirins have excellent night vision, acute hearing, limited
telepathy, and teleprojection. They must be within a few feet of another individual
with telepathic ability to communicate telepathically. Teleprojection allows
Akirins to manipulate gaseous molecules in such a way as to form a visual image
of their conscious
thoughts.
Government: There are three clans per district, three districts per state, three states per territory, and three territories per continent. Each level of government above clan has three representatives from its immediate subordinates. The representatives from each of the three continents forms a planetary triumvirate. To deal with the Akirins, one must deal with the planetary triumvirate.
Religions/Beliefs:
The Akirin belief system is based on mythos. They don't practice a formal religion,
but follow tradition and logic to govern their behavior.
Society/Culture: Akirin life is nocturnal, which makes them more at home in the darkness of space than other species. A favorite past-time for the Akirins is to gather at the community parks for storytelling and competitions by way of teleprojection. Each clan has a storyteller who is keeper of the clans history. The Akirins have strong family ties of a clannish nature. A family is considered to include all blood relations. They live by clan loyalty.
